Chris Anderson, CA (NZ), CISA, CMC, CISSP

Chris is a business and IT Governance, Risk, and Controls Leader with significant professional services and corporate experience in technology, telecommunications, financial services industries, as well as other sectors.  From 2014 to 2017, he was VP Risk at Rogers Communications, where he championed the overall business risk management mandate, and partnered with senior business leaders to improve short and long-term performance.  Prior to Rogers Communications, Chris was a Partner at Grant Thornton for 10 years, and a Partner at Ernst & Young for 7 years, leading sales and practice development, and delivering high quality business and IT risk, controls, cyber security and assurance services.  Chris is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Cyber Threat Exchange.  From 2009 to 2017, Chris was a member of the Information Management and Technology Advisory Committee (IMTAC) of CPA Canada. 

Ann Cavoukian, Ph.D.

Ann Cavoukian (born October 7, 1952) is the former Information and Privacy Commissioner for the Canadian province of Ontario. Her concept of privacy by design, which takes privacy into account throughout the system engineering process, was expanded on, as part of a joint Canadian-Dutch team, both before and during her tenure as commissioner (1997 to 2014).[1]

She was hired by Ryerson University as a distinguished visiting professor after the end of her three terms as IPC. Cavoukian was appointed Executive Director of the Ryerson's Privacy and Big Data Institute in 2014.[2] Since 2017, Cavoukian has been the Distinguished Expert-in-Residence of the university's Privacy by Design Centre of Excellence.[3]

Deborah has been with Rogers since 2007, and held the privacy portfolio for the organization since 2014.

Mike Picard

Carole Piovesan

Carole is a partner and co-founder of INQ Data Law where her practice concentrates on privacy, cyber readiness, data governance and artificial intelligence (AI). She regularly counsels clients on a wide range of matters related to privacy, data protection, data governance, ethical AI and risk management for AI operationalization. Prior to founding INQ Data Law, Carole was co-lead of the national Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Management group at McCarthy Tétrault. She has represented clients before all levels of court in Ontario as well as at the Supreme Court of Canada

Carole plays an active role in shaping data law, policy and standards. She is the co-chair of the data governance working group for the Data Governance Standardization Collaborative at the Standards Council of Canada. She is a member of the Data Governance Working Group for the Global Partnership on AI. She is also an advisor to the Law Commission of Ontario’s working group on AI in administrative decisions as well as the AI Impact Alliance and various start-ups. She serves as privacy advisor to the Canadian Personalized Healthcare Innovation Network (CPHIN) and a member of the Taskforce on AI for Health at the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research.

In 2018, Carole was appointed by the federal Minister of Innovation to serve as one of six Digital Leaders in the national data and digital transformation consultations. As a Digital Leader, she led consultations with businesses, academics, civil society and industry associations to help inform the first national Digital Charter that was announced on May 21, 2019.

Carole regularly speaks and writes on topics related to data law and AI. She is also co-editing a book on AI and law that will be published by Thomson Reuters in 2020.
