Bashir Fancy is the President of the Business & Technology Professional Association of Canada (BIZTEK) – a NOT for Profit organization that provides education, training, mentoring, exams, and certification of Technology professionals. BIZTEK brings both business and technology in today’s world where the pace of technology changes and innovation is happening at a lightning pace, creating skills gaps. Bashir sits on the Program Advisory Council of Colleges as well as Advisory Boards. He also led the cybersecurity task force in Canada. Bashir was also a former Chairman and CEO for CIPS National Board and CIPS Ontario.

Bashir was Managing Director, Corporation Solutions & Services Inc., providing Risk Management, Data Privacy, Governance, Security, Operations, IT consulting services, and Internal Audit globally. He continues to be called upon regularly to advise Corporations in Canada and globally. Mr. Fancy has held the position of Senior Executive Advisor, with Deloitte & Touché and also assisted Grant Thornton in a similar position.

Prior to that, Mr. Fancy served as the Executive Vice President for Risk Management & Security at Visa International and was also the Global Head of Internal Audit for Visa based out of San Francisco. He was instrumental in the development of the “Account Information Security” –Data Security Standards AIS-DSS (now known as PCI- DSS), that impacts any Organization that stores, processes or transmits credit/debit card transactions. This standard is intended to prevent data breaches, ensuing fraud, costs, and brand damage.  Bashir Fancy, as the Head of Risk Management & Security for Visa Canada, developed & implemented a strategy that led to 50% reduction in fraud losses, after a growth of 40% per year for 5 previous years. This strategy was adopted globally for Banks issuing Visa Cards.

Mr. Fancy assists financial institutions globally including the World Bank, Telecoms, Retail businesses, Governments, and others, to deal with the root causes and become secure, efficient, and compliant. He has an excellent background t both the working and executive level in the Payments, Retail, Airline Industry, 3rd Party processing and the Banking world that spans many countries.

Mr. Fancy held senior management positions that included Systems, Operations, Systems, Finance, Risk management, Internal Audit, Marketing & Sales and strategy in Organizations that included Visa international (Visa Inc.), Citibank, SNS (became known as Emergis, now absorbed into TELUS) – 3rd party card processor and effectively the back office managing point of sale for Canadian Banks and major retailers. His other roles included senior management role in Air Canada and the “Supermarket Group”, after starting his career to pursue CA at West, Wake & Price (Auditors) –became part of Price Waterhouse.

I was a member of the team that developed Bachelor Degree program in Software Systems: Design, Development and Management. I also was Program Coordinator for it from 2007-2009.

I designed an Artificial Intelligence-based framework for integrated simulation on heterogeneous Design/ Re-engineering Software Packages. The work was based on C++ / MODSIM II and SUPERSCAPE simulation environment.

Milos Kocic

Graduate from Loyola University in Maryland class of 2008 and proud recipient of the Medal of Merritt from my university for reaching standards of the highest recognitions in both the area of academics and athletics.  In 2008 after completing my internship at Merril Lynch (wealth management), I  signed my first professional soccer contract for DC United in Washington beginning in 2009.  I continued to play professional soccer for the next six years and have played for DC united, Toronto FC and Portland Timbers FC in my MLS career.

Throughout my professional career, I have been involved in many other endeavors. I was involved in product development projects with a 180’s company from Baltimore, USA. I was very fortunate to be endorsed by Adidas, Sells, and many other amazing companies with which I was able to participate in the product development of multiple sports products such goalkeeping gloves and other.

After I retired from professional sports, I decided to pursue career in financial industry where I got an amazing opportunity to start my journey with Edward Jones and learn from some of the most experienced advisors in the country.  Now I can proudly say that I am helping many families by giving them right financial advise and guiding them through turbulent times in their preservation of wealth.

Aside from my personal professional achievements, I was heavily involved in philanthropic and charitable contributions as a professional athlete. Some of the organizations that I worked with were Habitat for Humanity, Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, and many more.

The author of CASL Compliance: A Marketer’s Guide to Email Marketing to Canadians, he looks to simplify the implementation of new data management practices within organizations so they comply with global laws such as GDPR, PIPEDA, CASL and CCPA, while taking care of their prospects and customers. A CIPM, he believes making compliance practical makes compliance feasible.
